There are several questions you might be asked if interviewing for a new job. This checklist is a sample of common questions to help you be prepared. This checklist of interview questions can also be saved, modified, and used by the interviewer to help ensure that the questions being asked are legal and do not discriminate.
  • Why do you want this position?
  • How did your previous job or experiences prepare you for this position?
  • In what way did you show leadership/team-work at a previous job?
  • Share a weakness that may effect your work and how you plan to deal with it.
    Be prepared to discuss both strengths and weaknesses. An interviewer is usually more interested in knowing what you have to offer their company and if you are continually striving to improve.
  • Give an example of a time you failed/succeeded and why?
  • How well do you work under time pressure?
  • Give an example of a time when you had to multi-task.
    (Doing several things at once.)
  • What software programs are you proficient with and how do you use them?
  • Goals: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
    If you plan to move on to a new company in a couple years, it is probably best to keep quiet about that.
  • What improvement would you make in this company?
    This is a tricky question -- you do not want to insinuate that it is a bad company. The purpose is to show that you have creative ideas or the ability to make the company better or improve sales in some way.
